Internet Marketing Solutions, One Size Fits All? by Rick Carbone exclusive to Home Business Research
Internet Marketing comes in all shapes and sizes and so the answer to the question is, no, one size does not fit all. Each website business can employ vastly different tactics to accomplish the same results. There are many different ways in which to promote your online business, some will work for your individual business and those same tactics may not work for another. For example traditional marketing techniques such as banner advertising and ezine advertising may just not work for your home based business, they may be too costly or totally ineffective for your product niche. If this is the case, it may then become necessary to think outside of the box for cost effective internet marketing tactics.
One way to do this is to create test cells for different marketing campaigns. One way to accomplish this is through multiple landing pages for the same product. This tactic is fairly basic but is used widely in all marketing segments. In this way you can test the effectiveness of ad copy by varying the sales message on each landing page. To complete this tactic you can also vary the ad copy as well maintaining consistency within the campaign. This tactic has been used in the direct mail industry for many years.
A very cost effective and simple way to do this is to set up two separate landing pages and two separate ads. The graphic to the right shows a very basic test matrix that allows for four tests utilizing 2 ads and 2 landing pages. You can see from the graphic that by utilizing additional Ad copy an/or landing pages you can multiply you test matrices to find the most effective combinations. Once you have found your best combination, it will become your standard offer or what is know as the "champion" strategy. All others will be challengers to the champion. Each time that you run a campaign you will test against this standard or champion offer. If the test or challenger strategy performs better then the test now becomes the standard. In this way you are constantly modifying your ad campaigns to return maximize your conversion rate or overall performance. |
