Web Design Tips: When you start to do business on the Internet you need to pay attention to your site and the image that it projects. By the way, having a well designed and functional site does not have to be expensive. If you view our section below we review two different web authoring software programs that can get you online without taking a course in computer science at the local college. Today's web authoring tools are very easy to use but you must have a sense of what you want to accomplish on line first before you purchase any software.

When I first started out designing web sites my first designs were at best, mediocre, one of the first books I bought was Web Pages that Suck by Vincent Flanders. Outside of the unconventional name it was very helpful in understanding the simplicity of design in functionality. It's a valuable resource and the second edition is great as well.

Part of any web design process is the inclusion of image editing software. There are tons of image editors on the market some are good and some aren't. If you aren't actively designing pages you may not have a good handle on what constitutes good or bad image editing software. One way to alleveate this problem is to use the industry standard which is Adobe PhotoShop or any of the Adobe products. In this way you will be assured that you are using the most effective software possible. Adobe imaging and illustration products are the best, bar none. The only issue is that they are pricey.

We have tested other design software such as Xara and found it suitable for most site needs and the price is affordable, below $100 USD. Xara specializes in unique image enhancement, 3D imaging and Flash animation. It's very easy to learn and it can create great graphics for your website. For more information click here.
