Whether fun or money was the goal, to have a listing on the Net, you needed to have a website at that time. Amateur websites were more affordable, but were not terribly appealing to the visitor. The blog was concocted to be, in effect, a "poor man's website" that would give you a place on the Internet minus the expense and hassle of getting a website. From one mans blog to the next the blog spot became a method for people to relate to one another on the Internet. It was free even though it was a little drab; but not for long.
