Making Money With ClickBank Part 2--Beginner's Guide

Each time someone searches for "beauty secrets" on Google your AdWords ad appears on the right side of the search page or on top of the search results pages based on your ranking within the keyword. In some cases, you could only be paying as little as a dime per click. (Remember however, that even at a dime per click one thousand clicks will cost you $100. This is when you need special software to help you define your target market and the number of clicks you can expect with specific keywords.)

One hundred clicks a day at that rate would only be $10.00.  If someone clicks on your ad, they are brought to Joann's Beauty Secrets page and if they buy the product, you receive a commission for the sale.  In this hypothetical case, you would make a net profit of $18.60 after ClickBank takes a commission and processing fee , which you would pay anyway if you were your own credit card merchant and the cost of your Adwords ads.

Multiply this by the hundreds that may click on your AdWords ad and you can see that you can make a very nice profit 24 X 7.   Join ClickBank now.

The other reason to join ClickBank is that you can become part of their directory. You must have a website showcasing your product or service.    ClickBank houses over 11,000 products and services in their database.  Once you join you then become part of the directory after your first sale.

Once you are categorized into their directory, as below, you will be ranked by a proprietary method but weighted heavily towards sales. Some of the top selling books on ClickBank make thousands each month, totally automatic and not requiring your intervention.

It's easy to get started selling a product on ClickBank.  ClickBank specializes in digital download products such as eBooks and software.  One of the easiest ways to get started is to write an ebook on a popular topic and then create a simple web page to sell it. For tutorials on writing an ebook click here.

Most of the products on ClickBank are downloadable, which means that after payment has been processed your customer is forwarded to your site to a non-public page that they can download their purchase. This means you are now operating an international business 24/7 on the Internet for the cost of putting up a web site and writing an eBook and paying a small fee to ClickBank. All of the operational aspects of collecting the funds, verifying the credit cards and processing the order are all done automatically for you. ClickBank takes their fees directly out of your gross funds and you get the net amount twice a month. This couldn't be easier.

As with anything else convenience comes with a price.  ClickBank isn't the cheapest merchant processor but perhaps the easiest to start off with.

The hardest part is getting traffic to your site.  ClickBank helps you here as well.  Once you become a ClickBank member, you decide upfront how much of your sale you are willing to put up in commissions to other ClickBank affiliates.  Remember there are over 100,000 ClickBank affiliates ready to sell your products. If you want many affiliates to sign up and promote your product, you need to make it worthwhile for them to advertise your product.

Affiliate Strategy:

The key to getting the most out of the ClickBank affiliate base is to set your commissions at a favorable rate.  In this way you will attract more eager affiliates to sell your product.

Many of the top ten in each Clickbank category set their commission rates at 65% - 75%. This is not true for all but, if you do not have the resources to promote your product through other means, than this is an appropriate measure to take. Once you have established your product you can afford to lower you commission rate of payout, however you won't see many commissions lower than 50%.

As I mentioned in the last section if you decide to sell someone else's product, as an affiliate you might be better off working with another PPC besides Google as it won't be as expensive.  If you become competitive on Google and try to buy the number one or two spot for a particular keyword it can become extremely costly.  If your chargebacks and refunds mount up, your profit margin will get sacked and you'll wind up losing money.

If you list your own product on Clickbank and you attract a large enough affiliate base you won't need to pay as much for your listing on Google.  Remember Google is the top PPC program on the Internet.
