How To Set Up A WordPress Blog Using cPanel
There was a time when putting up a blog was a
really big technical deal, but not any more. If the title leaves you scratching your head because you don’t
know what cpanel is, let me explain.
cPanel is a process by which you manage your website. It’s
your interface to your website and controls the files, images, email accounts and just about everything you do with
your website. It’s pretty much standard with all hosting accounts. (Check out our RandaTec
Hosting)
Most cPanels also have something called Fantastico.
Fantastico is a commercial script library that automates the installation of web applications to a website.
Fantastico scripts are executed from the administration area of a website control panel such as cPanel. Most of
these scripts are from free open source applications and range from content management sites to customer
service applications such as bulletin boards and customer service help desk functions.
One of the application types Fantastico has are blog
applications, such as WordPress and other blog types. The advantage you have with Fantastico is that they make it
very simple to install very complicated scripts such as WordPress and other applications.
For purposes of this guide, we will deal with a WordPress
install through cPanel and Fantastico. If you do not have a hosting account that has Fantastico or cPanel you can
go to www.wordpress.org WordPress offers a free download and has step by step
instructions on how to set up your WP blog. If you want to upgrade to a hosting account that has c-Panel and
Fantastico contact us at randatec@homebusinessresearch.com and we will customize a plan for your budget. Plans as
low as $7.50 per month with no contract.
