Wise Up To Home Business Offers: More Internet Scams

Commentary by Rick Carbone 4/8/2009

Today I received an email about easily making $40,000 per month. By the way, there’s nothing easy about making $40k per month on the Internet. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Here’s the kicker, The accompanying video and statement documentation was from 2007! Can you imagine anyone trying to dupe you by using stale data? It happens every day on the Internet and believe me, it happens more often than not. Why does it make a difference if the information is two years old? Let me explain:

The Internet is a fast paced environment, constantly evolving at the speed of light. Today’s social network is yesterday’s news. Fads come and go faster than you can create one. It’s not impossible to make money but you need to be in tune with the direction of the market. In the case of the aforementioned offer, so much has happened in the past two years that any reference to what was made per month or per day then has no relevance to today. That means what people are buying, how and when they buy, how much they buy and where they buy it. For someone to show you their Google Adsense earnings from 2007 is almost like saying, you can’t possibly be smart enough to figure this out so I’m going to show you what I made back then even though my earnings today are 1/10 of what they were then.

My point is you have to question everything, and before you part with one dime, send emails and ask questions. Don’t be intimidated, be firm it’s your money. Don’t worry if it’s an ebook or another type of digital download they won’t run out of stock.

Another ruse is showing you current earnings for a completely different product than the one advertised. Someone may have a legitimate business selling product X and use those earnings statements to sell you product B which has no relevance to product X. Back in the 1800’s they called them "snake oil salesmen" because they literally sold snake oil to cure everything. (Click on the hypertext to see the history of "snake oil" it’s pretty interesting.)

Today’s economic environment has forced us all to be much more focused on how we invest in our businesses. It’s one thing to create solid marketing copy, it’s another to actually deceive your potential customer.
