What Does Google Caffeine Have In Store For Us in 2010?
by Rick Carbone, Publisher Home Business Research
There has been a lot of speculation about Google Caffeine over the past several months and "speculation" is the
key word. No one really knows except Google and the search engine team at Google. The rest of the world, including
all of the "Internet Gurus" will have to wait until January 1, 2010. Actually some of us will have to wait linger
because according to the official Google blog only one data center will go live at that time and they will monitor
results and turn on other centers as things progress. This is common with large data processing centers to unleash
new programming in small increments prior to going live with the whole system.
Let’s step back for a second and define what Google Caffeine is and how it may effect your small or home
business. Earlier in 2009 Google announced that they were developing new search engine listing and ranking rules.
Most people on the Internet won’t even notice the change but it will be there providing better search results for
the average user. For home and small businesses the change may be more dramatic as some of us live and die with our
Google search engine ranking.
Although non one really knows what will be changed, there will be changes. How we are effected is up for debate
until it gets turned on in 2010. What little we know is that there will most likely be lower scores for sites that
have irrelevant content, slow to load and populated with irrelevant links to sites that have no bearing on their
niche or main topic. This of course is purely speculative but the "smart money" is on these types of content
issues. The reason for this is that we have seen Google "smack down" these types of sites before in prior updates
so it stands to reason that these are the types of changes they will make.
The important take away here is that there will be change, and if you haven’t already, nake certain that at the
bare minimum make the aforementioned changes to your site as quickly as possible.
Stay tuned for additional information.
