Simple Adwords Campaign Setup
by Rick Carbone
Google® AdWords® campaigns are probably the fastest way to get buyers to your site but not necessarily the least
expensive. Although you can start a campaign for as little as $5.00 per day. If you place your max bid at no more
than 10 cents per click you can theoretically get 50 clicks per day. If your budget allows you the ability to
utilize this service here are some considerations and tips before you get started.
Your first challenge is finding a keyword or keyword phrase that is not highly competitive. Google® gives you
lots of free tools to do this. They have a keyword estimator that can suggest additional or related keyword and
keyword phrases, the average cost you would need to pay to be in positions 1 through 3 and how much competition
there is for those keywords. The link for the free Google keyword help is:

This is where you would start your keyword research. If you want to test into a program for your product here
are some tips to save you some money.
Set your per day rate at a monthly level you can afford. A month of a daily rate rate of $5.00 is on average
$150.00 per month. Remember that Google will show your ad(s) 24/7 until you reach your daily max. You can control
when your ad(s) are shown through a scheduler that Google provides time and days when your ads can be shown. So if
your monthly budget is $150.00 and you only want to show your ads on weekends you could conceivably spend as much
as $12 or $13 per day thus allowing you to utilize a higher per click rate.
Make sure you have a well though out Landing Page. This is very important if you are only getting a small number
of clicks to your sales page. Study other landing pages that are successful and apply the same technique to yours.
Remember that every click or viewer that comes to your Sales page will not necessarily buy your product. Think in
terms of a 2-5% conversion rate. That is, for every hundred clicks you will get 2-3 buyers. Price your product
accordingly and you shouldn’t get hurt. If your product sells for $19.95 and you are paying 10 cents per click at a
conversion rate of 2% you have made a profit of $19.95. Sounds great on paper, however if you guarantee your
product for a specified time limit you will get buyers remorse and cheats asking for a refund.
Start out small. Consider running your program for only 30 days to get a feel for product demand. Analyze your
stats and adjust where necessary.
Protect your product. There are a couple of ways to do this. If you are selling an information based product
such as an eBook, you can use a product such as DL Guard to protect your
download links so that it’s almost impossible to tell where you have stored your ebook.. DL Guard will not however
protect you from cheats that buy the product download it and then ask for their money back, there is no way to
disable your ebook. In order to protect yourself from that you need a product such as eBook Pro. Ebook Pro 6 has a registration tool that is
managed outside of your server. If someone requests a refund you can give them back there money and disable the
ebook. Both products are helpful in their own way, however ebook pro is an executable html product which often
times poses a problem with some of today’s browsers which mistake it for a virus. There are ways to alleviate that
problem through the publisher though.
Be careful with affiliate products. Selling other peoples products as an affiliate is an easy way to start
on the Internet, but be careful though. When you sell as an affiliate you still have the same rules. When people
request a refund your account is also debited so you lose your commission. Bear this in mind when you set up your
Adwords ads. Some products have a higher rate of return than others for example mp3 downloads can sometimes be very
high. I know of one instance where someone actually lost thousands of dollars because the return rate was so high
it ate into the margin of the product and produced a loss. So be careful when you pick an affiliate
product.
