Finding Your Ideal Work from Home Business
By Rick Carbone
An entrepreneur by definition is a risk taker, someone who
assumes the risk or developing, organizing and managing a
business. To be entrepreneurial, one assumes all of the
responsibility associated with managing something. I remember
my first job interview for a large company. The interviewer
told me that they were looking for "entrepreneurial types,"
self-starters, individuals that took the ball and ran with it.
Today’s mantra is very different. The team approach, consensus
building and becoming agents of change within an organization
are the themes of the day. Good managers build consensus with
there colleagues before they run with the ball.
What does all of this have to do with finding your ideal
work from home business? Plenty. Before you decide what home
business you want to be in you need to decide what group you
fall into.
Entrepreneurs or consensus building agents of change? The
difference is more than marginal as entrepreneurs are their own
worst enemies at times, boldly going where no one dared go
before. If you like to work in groups however, and thrive on
feedback and consensus you may not be the best home business
manager, as decisions tend to be based on your own internal
consensus. The net of all of this is you need to be a little of
both to succeed in an online home business. You need to make
decisions, but those decisions need to be based on some kind of
research. Research, in this case, may be what others have done
that was successful.
There are multiple avenues to go down in finding the right
work at home business. In fact there may be more than one
avenue that you’ll have to try before you become successful.
Take your time and avail yourself of first, free information.
There’s a lot of it on the Internet, not to mention right on
this site. Second, there is paid information such as
statistical data from data research companies. And finally just
looking at what other companies are doing and what drives them
is one of the best ways to research your ideal business.
One last note. Be prepared to work long hours. ( I think I
just broke Internet Marketing Rule 1) No one works for fifteen
minutes a day and makes a six figure income. Having your own
work from home business can be one of the most rewarding
challenges, financially and mentally.
