Can You Really Make Money With Google AdSenseĀ®?
by Rick Carbone
Okay here's the bottom line, yes you can make money with
Google AdSense ads. Now that I've gotten that out of the way,
the very next question is how is it done? Okay, that's a fair
question but do you have a few minutes to read this article,
because it will take some time to explain it?
I have been an AdSense publisher for several years now and I
can attest to making money with Google's AdSense program. It's
not as easy as you might think or have been told it is. It
requires a lot of hard work and dedication to get it done.
First of all I'll state the obvious - you must have a website
to display the ads on. I know it sounds so simplistic but
believe it or not I have been asked that question. The larger
issue is, how much money can you make? Can you quit your day
job now or should you wait until you receive your first
check?
Keep the day job!
That being said, I want to qualify the remark by saying that
the good folks at Google have a great way of helping you create
an income but you really need to test and test to find the
appropriate niche to settle into. What I'm saying is that
although Google provides many tools to help you analyze your
ads, you need to find the right niche to actually make money.
If you already have a website it's really easy to put ads on
your site. Where to put them is anyone's guess, although Google
offers suggestions based on publisher feedback about what works
best. If you already have a site you can sign up by clicking
here. Once you do have an AdSense account you can easily
access a wealth of information about AdSense and how it works.
Google provides tons of information about their products so be
sure to use it.
Finding The Right Niche:
There are a number of ways to do this.
- Sign up with Google Adwords and use the Google keyword
suggestion tool. This will tell you how many people are
looking for information that contain your selected
keywords. It doesn't actually tell you in raw numbers, it
displays a graphic that indicates high or low click
activity. It's a decent tool and it's free.
- Get a free download of my ebook, GoOnline 1-2-3, and
find free resources for keyword volumes such as the VRE
Toolbar.
- If you are serious about AdSense you really need a tool
like KeyWord Elite
to source keywords and develop keyword rich content.
- Do a standard Google search for a particular keyword or
keyword phrase and pay attention to the number related
sources come up in the results. This will give you an idea
how competitive the keyword is.
After you have found the right niche and keywords for that
niche you can start to build a site around your niche topic.
There are lots of tools available to build sites however "free
tools" are woods I am never tired of hearing. One of the tools
I recommend in my ebook is
HyperVRE a free download
of a site building tool that creates some stunning sites with
AdSense ads.
That being said let's get back to the original question,
"Can you make money with Google AdSense?" Yes but you should
understand that most AdSense ads pay only a few cents per view
or click. This means that you need to have considerable volume
to make significant income. Some AdSense ads have higher
payouts though which make them more worthwhile to display. This
is where many site owners falter because they skip the research
end of AdSense ads and placements. You should also know that
the majority of sites receive only a few dollars per day in
revenue. So if your thoughts were to try a site or two to see
if they make AdSense income you will wait a very long time and
most likely you'll become discouraged.
Some Final Thoughts:
The best way to describe AdSense is that it's a volume play.
That is the more sites you have the more money you will make.
First, and this may sound a bit self-serving but, read my free
ebook and get some first hand information on the AdSense
phenomena. Second, sign up for
AdSense and
AdWords and get access to Google's free information on each
of these products as they can go hand in hand to complimenting
each other. Visit both of the Guides on this site as well as
the archive section for
AdSense and
AdWords for additional free information.
