Blogging For Business
By Rick Carbone
The whole concept of Blogging first appeared in the
1990’s when it emerged as a way to make a comment on a web
page. Since that time blogs have evolved into a mass
communication forum for ideas and commentary. Headline news can
sometimes come from blogs rather than traditional channels as
evidenced during our last national election. It has become a
way to provide information quickly to a large targeted
audience.
Basically a blog is a website where a blogger enters
"posts" in reverse chronological order (meaning that the newest
"posts" are displayed first ) using some sort of blogging
software that allows readers to comment on posts, effectively
adding new content to the blog.
How can a blog help you in
business?
A lot of entrepreneurs benefit from blogging by
promoting their businesses on their blogs, with millions and
millions of people logging onto the net everyday, blogging has
become a lucrative move. A business blog can provide an
interactive forum for a website owner by providing information
to a target audience. This information can be commented on by
the readership. This immediate feedback is akin to a focus
group, whereby the product/website owner can gauge the
popularity of a product or service by just writing about it in
their blog. Readers can then comment giving the website owner
feedback.
Your first step in creating a business blog is to build a
base of content around the theme of your website. Unless you
already have a built-in audience, very few people are going to
read your early blog posts because they will be extremely hard
to find in either the blogosphere or the search engines. It is
important at first to add content to your blog that is similar
in nature to the content of your website. Linking to the blog
from your site is also important. If you are unfamiliar with
blogging visit blog directories such as BlogSpot Òor Technorati
Òto get a feel for how blogs are designed and how they can
provide perspective to a specific topic. Of course Yahoo Òand
Google Òhave directories as well. Sign on to any or all of
these for ideas for your blog.
Blogs can also be monetized as well with Adsense ads
and other pay per click advertising.
The biggest issue is building the blog. It requires a
steady flow of articles and information which needs to be
updated on a regular basis. Until you get commentary and
feedback you will need to write almost daily. After your blog
gains some reader momentum you can ease off and let the
comments flow in.
Think about this: there are millions of blogs but only
a few hundred or so drive any significant amount of traffic.
Start blogging today and in a month you will have a blog empire
earning you a decent amount of money. Savvy marketers have now
accepted blogging as one of the best Internet marketing methods
that is free because you could create your blog almost
immediately at no cost compared to the setting up of a
conventional website.
Setting up a blog is easy, you can either purchase blogging
software or use a blogging hosting service to do it for you.
Either you load a blogging software or let a blogging hosting
service do it for you. If you're ready to start blogging, you
can do so immediately by signing up at a free online blog
services such as Blogger Òor Wordpress Ò.
